Custom Foot Orthotics
How do Custom Made Foot Orthotics Work?
Custom foot orthotics are specialized inserts designed to fit inside shoes, providing personalized support and alignment for an individual's unique foot structure. These medical devices are carefully crafted based on a detailed assessment of a person's feet, gait, and specific needs. While over-the-counter insoles are widely available, custom orthotics offer a higher level of precision and effectiveness in addressing various foot-related issues.
The use of custom foot orthotics is quite common, with many people benefiting from their corrective properties. They help reduce pain by redistributing pressure, improving foot alignment, and providing targeted support to areas of the foot that need it most. Many individuals report noticeable improvements in comfort and reduced pain within a few weeks of consistent use, although the full benefits may take several months to manifest as the body adjusts to the new support.
One significant advantage of custom foot orthotics is that they are often covered by extended medical plans, making them an accessible treatment option for many people. This coverage reflects their recognized medical value and effectiveness in treating various foot-related conditions.
Family doctors frequently recommend custom foot orthotics as a first-line treatment for foot pain. This approach is favored because it's non-invasive, has few side effects, and has shown consistent success in alleviating pain and improving foot function. By addressing the root cause of many foot problems, orthotics can often provide relief without the need for more aggressive interventions.
Custom foot orthotics can help with several common injuries and conditions, including:
1. Plantar fasciitis: Orthotics provide arch support and cushioning to reduce strain on the plantar fascia.
2. Flat feet or fallen arches: They offer additional arch support to improve foot alignment and function.
3. Heel spurs: Orthotics can redistribute pressure and provide cushioning to alleviate pain from heel spurs.
4. Metatarsalgia: They help redistribute pressure across the ball of the foot, reducing pain in the metatarsal area.
5. Bunions: Orthotics can help slow the progression of bunions and reduce associated pain.
6. Achilles tendinitis: By improving foot alignment, orthotics can reduce strain on the Achilles tendon.

Helpful Notes to the Public:
- Please be aware of custom orthotic suppliers who only have you walk on a pressure pad to get impressions of your feet. This method is often used because it is cheap and quick. They do not represent your foot's ideal position, and are not a 3D image of your foot. It is impossible to make a custom orthotic without a 3D image.
- Companies or businesses that supply Free Shoes with purchase of Custom Orthotics is insurance fraud. A number of clinic have been closed down in Ottawa because of this. The provider is also frauding the patient. Orthotics provided in these deals are over-the-counter orthotics and not custom to your foot.
